So Much More Than Just A Grading
We all love elephants, so let’s address the elephant in the room!
Our latest Ofsted report carried the technical grading “Requires Improvement”, however, if you to look beyond these two words to what is said in the report, you’ll see the INCREDIBLE things that Ofsted said about us!
Within our setting, the Ofsted Inspector, Mary Daniel, noted that ‘Children respond well to the caring friendly staff and form positive relationships. This helps children settle and feel secure in the setting. Younger children go easily to staff for cuddles. Older children interact happily, responding readily to questions staff ask them.’
‘Children learn to be kind and share together.’
‘Children benefit from the frequent praise and encouragement staff give them to help them develop positive self-esteem.’
‘Children develop positive attitudes to helping others. Older children readily tidy up creative resources they have used and help to lay the table for mealtimes. Younger children learn about taking turns from their older friends, who act as good role models.’
‘Children gain confidence in their abilities and develop the social skills to together help them prepare for their move to school. Older children demonstrate good imagination in their play and use language well to express their ideas.’
‘Older children develop positive attitudes to learning and make steady progress. Children enjoy their healthy snacks and meals and develop their independence skills.’
So, yes, technically due to changes in management that need time to embed, we fell into the 'Requires Improvement' title on the day we were inspected, but with Ofsted themselves saying such amazing things about what we do, why not make the decision yourself?
All of our parents are so happy with what we do, with many having brought their children from settings with 'Good' or 'Outstanding' ratings!
Not that we're bragging, but the report said so many good things about us, here's just a few more before we tell you more about our 65 acres of play areas, forest walks and incredible teaching opportunities we provide:
‘The manager and staff use more effective procedures to monitor children's progress to identify their next steps of development.’
‘The arrangements for safeguarding are effective. The manager has a secure understanding of all aspects of safeguarding.’
‘Staff keep parents informed of their children's activities and encourage their involvement to promote continuity.’
Ultimately, it’s your family; YOU make the decision about where’s best.
Mighty Oaks Day Nursery & Preschool is conveniently located within the Bournemouth University Sports Campus, near Bournemouth Airport and between Christchurch and Ferndown.
We provide excellent opportunities for the children to connect to nature and the outside environment in all weathers and all year round within our 65 acres of beautiful woodland where we ensure the children fully explore our fields, woodlands and facilities offered by Bournemouth University, including a play area with a climbing frame and slide and Astroturf pitches for improving physical development.
Our open-plan classroom offers the children mixed age group interaction, independent play and real-life experiences. We offer free-flow on to our beautiful outside balcony area with a sandpit, water play, mark-making and construction.
